Know More Opioids online self-led module: Guide

Objective

The  Know More Opioids module aims to provide teens aged 13-18 with information about the overdose crisis in Canada. It also helps and supports educators  to engage with youth on the issue. This module includes activities, videos and informative content that covers multiple topics related to opioids, including fentanyl, signs of an opioid overdose, naloxone, The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act and the impacts of stigma on people who use drugs. 

About the module

The module is organized into two (2) key topic areas: 

Part 1: An introduction to opioids and fentanyl, and the overdose crisis.

Part 2: Information on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose, naloxone, the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act, and the impacts of stigma on people who use drugs.

Length and Format: The presentation will take approximately 45-60 minutes and includes a script for a presenter or a voice-over audio. The module can be used whole or in part.

Set-up

The self led experience only requires access to a computer, tablet or mobile phone and access to the internet.  If you are presenting to a group: 
  • Access to a projector or smartboard and connection to a speaker system.
